Plans for 2017 & Announcing The Immortal Mark

This year was a fantastic year for my writing career. It was my second year as a full time writer, and I learned so much about being self employed and writing. I've also been unbelievably blessed to have such amazing readers who send me the best emails!

This year I published 9 full length novels and 3 novellas! It was my most  productive year ever since I started writing seriously in 2008.

For 2017, I plan on publishing one novel a month, starting with my new series, The Immortal Mark. Up until now, I've always published YA contemporary romance, but I've been aching to write this series ever since the idea came to me a few months ago. I recently took a survey of my readers and 94% of them said they'd be happy to read a paranormal series by me, so that motivated me to get started on it. I do still plan on releasing a YA contemporary romance every now and then to keep all my readers happy. :)

The Immortal Mark an urban romance with paranormal elements, and the main character is 18 years old, so it falls somewhere between upper Young adult and New Adult on the genre lists. There will still be LOTS of romance, so no worries! I am super excited for this series and I have already fallen in love with my characters. I really hope you'll enjoy it, too!

Book 1 releases January 31, 2017! *squee*

See below for the official summary and the cover, which I am ridiculously in love with because look how gorgeous!!

The only thing Cara got for her eighteenth birthday was an unexpected invitation to move out of her uncle’s house. College isn’t an option for a poor girl with average grades, so when her best friend Riley finds them a mysterious job opportunity that includes room and board, Cara is interested but thinks it sounds too good to be true.
The night before their interview, Cara has an epic night out with Theo, an impossibly handsome guy she just met. He’s charismatic, a little mysterious, and it feels like she’s known him her whole life.
When she runs into him at her interview, he’s cold and elusive. He makes it very clear that he doesn’t want her working with him, which only makes their mutual attraction burn hotter. Cara takes the job for Riley’s sake and promises herself she’ll avoid this jerk and his mood swings, no matter how hard it is to keep away from him.
Soon she finds out her millionaire employers aren’t normal guys who live and travel in luxury. They’re immortals. Theo wasn’t trying to ruin her job prospects. He was trying to save her life, because the girls they hire never make it out alive.

Introducing Amy's Street Team!

As we move into the new year, I'm branching out my marketing efforts (or in other words--I'm starting some marketing efforts! lol) and I'm creating a Street Team!

Being a member of my street team means you're a dedicated reader and want to help me spread the word about my books. My street team will get exclusive info and giveaways that no one else gets, and--the most important part--you'll get a free eBook copy of EVERY new book I release! All you have to do in return is review the books on Amazon as soon as you're able to.

Although nothing is mandatory and being a member of the team is totally voluntary, the purpose of joining up is to help spread the word about new books by posting book reviews, posting links and photos of the books to your social media, websites, blogs, etc. I can even send bookmarks and stickers if you are able to pass them out in real life. Anything goes! The main goal of my street team will be to spread awareness of my books and make sure they reach as many readers as possible.

My plan is to email the Street Team once a month with my new book and pictures, teaser quotes, and any other stuff I can think of that you can choose to post online, Tweet, Instagram, etc, as often or as little as you'd like.

I'll also send out polls and let you help me choose which new books to write, what to name characters, and more fun stuff like that. (and YES, you'll get a book character named after you!)

Subscribers will be capped at 25 members at a time, so sign up soon if you don't want to miss out!

Amy's 2017 Reader Survey

Can you believe the year is almost over? This was my best year yet, as far as writing goes. I managed to write and publish 9 novels and 3 novellas! I can't even begin to tell you how great it feels to finally be a full time writer and be able to pour my heart and time into writing.

For 2017, I plan to publish 10 full length novels and a few novellas! I've always been a writer of teen contemporary novels, but I've recently had an idea for a series that would be a teen paranormal romance. While I will go back to the Summer Unplugged series that everyone loves, as an artist, I have to branch out and write different things from time to time or I get burnt out. And this paranormal series won't get out of my head. It is begging to be written!

I'm not sure if suddenly writing in a different genre would throw off my readers, (or even disappoint my readers who are used to the books I write), so I'd like to ask you to take a survey about my future books.

I'm the only person who will see the answers and it's all confidential and anonymous. It'll also only take a minute or two, so I'd love it if you'd take some time to answer it for me:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WJ88GHB

Thank you all so much for being such amazing readers and for making 2016 a great year for books! I am a very lucky author to have such a dedicated group of readers! Every letter and email I get from you guys makes me smile. I hope you'll enjoy my latest release, Lana's Ex Prom Date, and let me know in the survey what you'd like to see from me next year.

13 December 2016

Release Day for Lana's Ex Prom Date

I'm so excited! This book was a lot of fun to write. It was inspired by my sister in law telling me a story of the time she was in high school and her boyfriend dumped her but then said he'd still go to prom with her since they'd already made plans to go.

I liked the idea of turning that sucky situation into a romance, so I took the idea and ran with it. Now Lana's Ex Prom Date is ready for you to read!

You can find it on Amazon in eBook and Paperback here. Read more about the book below.

Lana Clarke just got asked out by one of the hottest guys in school. Toby Fitzgerald is undeniably gorgeous, but his charismatic personality makes Lana the envy of every girl at West Canyon High School. Senior prom is right around the corner, and although Lana had planned on a stag outing with her friends, Ashlyn and Bennet, Toby asks her to be his date in the most romantic way ever. Her friends are bummed, but support her anyway. After all, Toby Fitzgerald is the boyfriend everyone wants.
Lana’s life is now perfect—until Toby breaks up with her three days before prom.

But he’s a nice guy, and he still wants to take her to prom as a friend. After all, they’d already rented a limo and picked out Lana’s dress together. Her friends think she shouldn’t ditch them for a guy who ditched her, but when she discovers Toby’s secret, she’ll have to choose between lying to her friends, or lying to the whole school.

Release Day for The Breakup Support Group by Cheyanne Young!

The Breakup Support Group
Cheyanne Young
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: November 22nd 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

After four years of first love bliss, Isla Rush just got dumped.

Any hope she has of winning her ex-boyfriend back is shattered when the town rezones her neighborhood, forcing her to spend senior year at a wealthy high school in the next town over.

With a broken heart consuming her soul, Isla can’t focus on anything, except maybe Emory Underwood—a ridiculously hot guy who dates a new girl almost every day. She can’t help but crush on him, even though it’s wrong.

When memories of her ex make her cry in second period, the school counselor sends Isla to a club that meets during lunch. The Break-Up Support Group is a collection of broken-hearted misfits who are all helping each other heal.

Just when Isla’s heart is finally on the mend, Emory shows up, forced to atone for all the broken hearts he’s caused over the years. While hiding her massive crush, she helps him understand the seriousness of breaking a heart.

In turn, Emory offers to help Isla get back on the dating scene by agreeing to be her fake date for the homecoming dance. Isla gladly accepts the ruse, because if anyone can make her into a desirable girlfriend, Emory can! There’s just one small problem.

Isla’s little crush on Emory might be exactly full blown. And a homecoming fake date with him could push her over the edge to possibly uttering the “L Word!”

Isla can’t afford another heartbreak so soon after the last one. She will have to resist his charms, refuse to look into those dreamy eyes, and above all else, not make the mistake of letting him kiss her.

If only she hadn’t let her guard down at the end of the night, under the light of her porch in a toe-curling kiss moment of weakness. And now, after months of Break-Up Support Group therapy, and with a heart fully on the mend, Isla has just handed it over to a guy who knows full well just how to break it.

EXCERPT:

The first time Nate and I went to the movies was during eighth grade. His dad had picked me up and dropped us off since we weren’t old enough to drive, and I still remember how hard my heart pounded from the backseat of Mr. Mile’s Tahoe. Even over the country music his dad blasted everywhere he went, I feared Nate would hear my heartbeat doing jumping jacks and know I was freaking out. This was an official date after all. My first.

It was the start of December, and it was freezing cold outside. I wore a denim skirt and leggings in an effort to be cute, but the cold had me shivering like a maniac while we waited in line to buy tickets. And then thirteen-year-old Nate took off his jacket, a junior high letterman, and draped it over my shoulders. It didn’t do anything to stop the cold from crawling up my legs, but I was warm all the same. A boy had given me his jacket. I still have that jacket to this day, hanging somewhere in the back of my closet. It officially became mine on that first Christmas we spent together.

We weave our way into the theater, which is oddly packed. Even on a Friday night, this place is usually dead. The theater survives on grant money and Mr. Hasting’s massive trust fund.

The concession stand is whimsically lit up with an old-fashioned marquee hanging overhead. All of the items and prices are meticulously labeled with black plastic letters, and a strand of clear lightbulbs light up the border of the menu, the lights chasing each other around the rectangle. Nate stops at the back of the line, and I take his hand again, glad that we’re finally alone.

The smell of popcorn makes my mouth water. “Large popcorn with butter,” Nate says, taking his VIP member card out of his back pocket. It’s what gets us free concessions. “And two drinks.”

“Two?” I ask, lifting an eyebrow. The large popcorn makes sense—we usually get a medium, but I’d said I was starving. But one drink with two straws is how we’ve always done date nights.

Nate shrugs. “I want my own drink tonight.”

I don’t know why that stings, but it does.

“Is everything okay with you?” The words are out of my mouth, all nagging and whining at the same time. I instantly regret that I even asked. Especially when his reaction is anything but ideal.

He shrugs again and leads the way toward the theater on the left, popcorn in one hand and his own personal drink in the other. “I’m fine.”

My brows draw together as we walk. “You seem weird.”

“Well, I’m not.” He doesn’t even look at me. And when the movie starts playing, we eat our popcorn and we drink our separate drinks. And we don’t kiss, not even once.

Out of Beat full cover

Excerpt:

“Lark!” Zack says as he comes in the back door of my bedroom. He sweeps me into his arms and spins me around the room before putting me on the ground. “You’re all grown-up!”

I cross my arms and narrow my eyes at him. “And I still hate it when you call me Lark.”

He pouts, and I can’t stay mad at him. He’s foolishly good looking in his band t-shirt, zip-up hoodie, and beanie. It covers his dapper haircut that has a streak of chemical white-blond he dyes a different color to suit his mood. I pull the beanie off his head, and he winks. Pink.

“Something you’ve been meaning to tell me, Killer?” I ask.

His pout drifts into a smile, complete with lady-killer dimples. “I’m completely secure in my manhood. You can ask my girlfriend.”

“Settling down are we?” I tease just as Aaron bursts through the door and throws me over his shoulder. Where Joey and Zack are tall and skinny, Aaron and Danny are muscular. Danny’s got the arms while Aaron has the abs.

“You get her bags,” Aaron orders. “We’ve got a radio interview to get to.”

“Do either of you know how to use a front door? Or knock?” I ask as I hang suspended over Aaron’s shoulder with my hand cupping my face.

Danny comes through the door next and his head jerks back as he takes in the scene. “Looks like you don’t need my help.”

I nod to my rack of longboards. “You’re the only one I trust with my boards. The pintail and the dinghy.”

“Speak English,” Zack says, but Danny seems to understand and grabs the two boards.

“Look!” Danny says, holding the dinghy up next to Zack’s head. “The trucks match your hair!”

“I was wondering where you fools went to!” Joey says as he walks in the door. “Mom and Dad want to say bye to all of us, but I’m pretty sure Dad will prefer if you’re not hauling Sky around ass over teakettle.”

“Oh, come on! This is totally normal,” Aaron says, and Joey blinks at him. “Fine.”

“Don’t worry,” I say, squeezing Aaron’s arm as he sets me down. “You and Danny can take turns trying to bench press me after.”

“Sick!” Aaron whoops. “You’re the perfect size for that!”

Danny narrows his eyes at me as the guys file up the stairs. I hold my hand out, and he gives me the dinghy. “Bench press you?”

I lean my shoulder into him before we head up the stairs. “Just because you like the idea.”

He laughs, shaking his head as he holds the door open for me. “I’m afraid Aaron will like it too much.”

“Jealous?” I ask.

His neck turns red beneath his scruff. “Protective.”

When Zoey Fell Too Far

I'm so excited that my new book is out! When Zoey Fell Too Far is an important book to me because it explores what happens when girls do things against their better judgement. Here's the book summary:

Zoey Caplan has led a sheltered life, but it’s never really bothered her. In fact, she just went on a date with a super hot senior, thank you very much. But what she thought was a fun date leads to a new nickname on the school’s unofficial Dis List: Biggest Prude. Maybe if she wasn’t such a pathetically good rule follower, she could get her name off the list. Maybe, just maybe, if Zoey started living less like an old lady and more like a seventeen-year-old girl, she could experience high school like everyone else does.

Fed up with being a loser, Zoey decides to experience all the things she’s missed out on over the years: parties, underage drinking, ditching class, and most off all, hooking up. Guys seem to love the attention she gives them, all except for Jonah Thedford. The gorgeous bad boy can flirt better than anyone but he’s the only guy immune to Zoey’s charms. And yeah, he’s the one she truly wants, but in order to stop being a prude, Zoey gives her affection to other guys instead.

It turns out that crossing over to the dark side is easy. Almost too easy. The moment Zoey’s name drops off the Dis List, it’s added right back.

As Biggest Slut.

If she wants to make things right again, she’ll have to change a few things in her new crazy life. Luckily, Jonah is more than willing to help her.

This book has mature content and some profanity. Recommended for older teen readers.

You can get When Zoey Fell Too Far on Amazon or read it FREE with Kindle Unlimited!

As always, I would love love love it if you leave a review on Amazon when you're finished reading! Reviews help authors a ton!

Up next? Jett and Keanna's Christmas book! It'll be released in mid November. Make sure you're subscribed to my newsletter to be the first to know when it's out! (link to the right)

Sneak peak at WHEN ZOEY FELL TOO FAR

I've been excitedly working on a new book, called WHEN ZOEY FELL TOO FAR. This one is a little different than my typical romance story. While they're still PLENTY of romance, (I promise!) this one has a main character who is dealing with being bullied at school and deciding to "find herself" when it comes to dating guys.

The cover reveal will be soon, but for now, here's the description:

Zoey Caplan has led a sheltered life, but it’s never really bothered her. In fact, she just went on a date with a super hot senior, thank you very much. But what she thought was a fun date leads to a new nickname on the school’s unofficial Dis List: Biggest Prude.

When Zoey Fell Too Far will be released on October 18th, 2016. You can add it to Goodreads now.

RELEASE DAY! In Every Way available now!

It's here! The companion novel to In Plain Sight releases today. You can find In Every Way on Amazon for Kindle and Kindle Unlimited!

It’s the start of summer and Josh Graham will be working at his parent’s surf shop. When his best friend Colby goes on vacation, Josh is stuck working with Bryce—and all of Bryce’s terrible ideas for summer. They make a list of what the “perfect girlfriend” would be like, and now they plan to find her. It shouldn’t be too hard, since Josh is one of the hottest, most popular guys in school. Right?

Bess Navarre would rather read a book than go outside. She’s chubby, dorky, and a self-proclaimed loser. But when her grandmother volunteers her to work at a boutique on the beach, Bess has to comply, no matter how humiliating it is. Bikinis and Bess do not go together, and now she feels even dorkier than ever.

When Bess and Josh’s paths collide, sparks fly. But it won’t be that easy. Bryce wants Josh to date a supermodel. And although Bess might just fit all of the things on Josh’s list, she won’t give herself a chance to figure it out.

From the bestselling author of Summer Unplugged and Ella's Twisted Senior Year, In Every Way is a young adult romance told in dual point of view. Contains mild profanity and romantic scenes.

For starters, I hope you'll leave a review on Amazon after you've read In Plain Sight. Reviews are SUPER important for authors, especially indie authors like me. The more reviews a book has, the more Amazon promotes it to new users so people are more likely to find my books if they have more reviews. A simple "This book was great" works! It doesn't have to be a long review at all.

Thank you all SO MUCH for being such supportive readers who send me wonderful emails and comments online. It really makes my day to hear from you all and hear how you've taken inspiration from my books.

In October, I have a new book coming out called WHEN ZOEY FELL TOO FAR, and I'm really really excited about it. The cover will be revealed soon!

In November, JETT AND KEANNA GET A NEW STORY! Yes, you heard me right! It'll be a Christmas themed adventure and I'm still not sure what the title will be yet... if you have an ideas, shoot them my way!

Remember you can always follow me on Snapchat (amysparling), Instagram (@writeamysparling), Twitter and Facebook  to be the first to know about new bookish stuff from me! You can also email me by using the contact link up above. I respond to all emails but sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes people catch  me at a good time and I can respond right away. You never know!

Thanks again for all of your support and please let me know what you think about In Every Way!

Cover Reveal - In Every Way

Isn't it pretty?

I have to give a huge thanks to Beetiful Book Covers for this lovely design. I loveeeee this book cover! In Every Way is a companion novel to In Plain Sight, which means it's set in the same world, but it's about Josh (Colby's best friend) and Bess, the girl he falls for. I had a lot of fun writing this book, and it deals with issues of self esteem and popularity. This book comes out Sept. 13th 2016 but it's up for pre-order now.

Here's the official book summary:

The Summer Series now on Kindle Unlimited

I have great news for my readers who use Kindle Unlimited. All 4 books in the Summer Series are now enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, which means you can read them for free if you're a subscriber!

More than half of my readership uses Kindle Unlimited, so I know it's a popular program. I also use it myself. If you don't know what it is, it's like Netflix but for books. You sign up for a Kindle Unlimited subscription for $9.99 a month and then you get unlimited access to books and audiobooks. How awesome is that??

You can click on the link below to get your first month free and then take advantage of it by reading The Summer Series! (Or any of my other books!)

Read my books on any device

I recently took a poll and found that about 30% of my readers read my eBooks on their iPhone, iPad, Nook, or Kobo. The majority of readers are on Kindle, and because of this and because of exclusive contracts with Amazon, I have several books that are only available on the Amazon Kindle bookstore.

However, if you don't have a Kindle, you can still read my Kindle-only books! Amazon has a free Kindle app that you can download and use on a computer, tablet, iPad, iPhone, or Android phone. Click the link below to get the app so you can read all of my books.

What's up next?

I hope you're all enjoying my new books! After Jett's series, I thought I'd branch off into something new because I've been excited to work on new characters and stretch my abilities as a writer. My newest release, In Plain Sight, is the first in a series of three books that are all about different characters in the same world.

You can read the first couple of chapters for free here:

The second book in this series is called In Every Way, and it will be released September 13th. Preorder info and the book cover will be revealed soon.

The third book is currently untitled and will release around November.

I also have a fun Back to School sale going on soon. From August 15-19th, Believe in Me will be FREE on Amazon Kindle! This is a great chance to read the book if you haven't yet!

Also, there will be one more book in Jett's series, and I'm super excited about it! It'll be a Christmas novella, releasing on December 1st.

So that's it! I have 3 new books planned for you all for the rest of the year, but knowing me, I might end up writing more. Most of what I write has been because of my readers asking for it, so if you have any book requests, now is the time to let me know!
